My visit to Kreutz Creek Elementary!

This is a school where kids ideas are always...

This is what I see when I start doing DaVinci's Doodles! My mind is racing. I'm trying to figure out what I can make this doodle into. But when I'm surrounded with so many eager, creative kids, I'm inspired. Well, inspired and a little perspired! There's nothing like a live audience to clear one's brain!

Here are two things I learned from the stories we made up in the assemblies...

Dogs don't like to see their underwear end up on their pet snakes.

The Wheel of Fiction chose great directions for us. Thanks to all my "spinners".

And rhino explorers can be mean to the monkeys they hire.

Artists at work!

It's so cool watching ideas take shape as kids work. And no matter what the end drawing looks like, there's always an interesting character waiting to come out of it. You just have to know how to ask the right questions.

Kids are great at this game of turning a doodle into a drawing. All you need is a piece of paper, a pencil and two friends. Draw a shape, pass the paper, and see what an imagination can make out of it.

And if the drawing turns out strange, I think that's a great thing for making a character! Just ask yourself why the character looks like that. In the drawing above, we wondered why the girl was reaching out like that. We had so many creative answers!

What a great day!

It certainly was fun for me, and I hope it was fun for you all, too. Keep using your ideas and sharing them with others, kids!

Remember,
YOU are creative!

Fabulous Stories!

Check out these tales:

Where's the Kid? Here's a fun idea for a game show: having a babysitter try to find a kid who is hiding himself in a big mansion! The kid knows all the secret places, but the babysitter is a champ. I felt bad that we didn't really work in magic into this story, since the Wheel chose magic for us. But sometimes the stories kids make up are so good, they don't need the extra fun of the Wheel's ideas.

The Monster in the Mailbox had a really cool idea in the middle of it. Where could a creature hide and not be found? In the mailbox... of a mailman! I hadn't thought about this until it came up in the session, but I guess mail carriers don't really use their mailboxes. So what's hiding here? I don't know, but this cat is about to find out!

There's something wrong in this kitchen! In The Secret Recipe, a woman finds that her boyfriend is competing against her in a cooking contest and is trying to ruin her meal, the sneak! If

In this funny story, a pig steals frozen cubes of mud from the ground near the home of the Abominable Snow-Pig, shown here sending out his squirrels to track down the thief. Below, you can see how they work things out!
